Local Network Privacy, introduced in iOS 14 and MacOS 15, requires apps and browsers to request permission before accessing devices on your local Wi-Fi network. This affects casting from Google Cast-enabled apps or Chrome. Use this guide if you need to enable or disable local network permissions to cast from your Apple device. By the end of these steps, you’ll be able to control which apps can discover and connect to Cast-enabled devices on your network.
Before you start
-
Make sure your iPhone, iPad, or Mac is updated to iOS 14/MacOS 15 or later.
-
Confirm your device and the i3CONNECT display are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Turn on local network permission
-
Connect your Apple device to the same Wi-Fi network as the i3CONNECT display.
-
Open a the Chrome browser or a Cast-enabled app (like YouTube or Netflix).
-
Tap the
Cast icon; location varies by app.
-
When prompted, tap Ok to allow Wi-Fi access.
-
Tap Ok again to allow the app to connect to your local network. If you tap Don’t Allow, casting won’t work.
-
After granting permission, tap the
Cast icon again to see available devices.
-
Select the i3CONNECT display to start casting.
Enable access
If you denied access earlier, you can enable it in your device’s settings:
iPhone or iPad
-
Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network.
-
Turn on Local Network for the app you want to allow.
Mac
-
Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network.
-
Turn on Local Network for the app you want to allow.
Disable Local network permission
iPhone or iPad
-
Go to Settings > Privacy > Local Network.

You won’t be able to cast from this app when Local Network is off.
Mac

-
Turn off Local Network for the app you want to restrict.
You won’t be able to cast from this app when Local Network is off.
Troubleshooting

If your Cast-enabled device doesn’t appear, double-check that both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network and that permissions are enabled.
