Firmware update failed to install or froze - Troubleshooting

Symptom: Firmware updates fail to install or the device freezes during the update process.

Cause: A failed update can be caused by various reasons, including using a corrupted USB drive, an interrupted download, or the device's serial number being blacklisted on the OTA server.

Resolution Steps

  1. Download the firmware file for your display

  2. Use a Different USB Drive:

    • Attempt the firmware update again using a different USB 2.0 flash drive. SanDisk USB 2.0 flash drives are recommended.

    • Ensure the USB flash drive is formatted to FAT32.

  3. Safe Removal: Safely eject the USB flash drive from the PC before proceeding with the installation.

  4. Retry Installation: Follow the manual's instructions to retry the installation. It is included with the firmware download.

  5. Check for Blacklisting: If the issue persists, the serial number might be blacklisted. Serial numbers can be blacklisted if the OTA server is pinged, but the firmware is not downloaded or is interrupted during download. Serial numbers are usually released automatically, but this can take a few days. Contact support if the issue persists after a few days.
