No audio output, or distorted sound heard from the display's speakers - Troubleshooting

When you’re not hearing any sound from your interactive flat panel display—or the audio is distorted or cuts in and out—this guide will help you get back to clear, reliable sound. Use these steps if you’re experiencing audio issues during presentations, lessons, or video calls.

This article is for anyone using an i3CONNECT interactive display who needs to restore or improve audio output.

If you’re using external speakers or a soundbar, or if your display is connected to a complex AV system, refer to the specific troubleshooting guides for those devices.

Before you start

  • Check that your display is powered on and not muted.

  • Ensure any external devices (laptops, media players) are also powered on and not muted.

Instructions

  1. Check Connections
Make sure all audio cables are firmly plugged into the correct ports on both the display and any connected devices.

  2. Review Audio Settings
Open the display’s audio settings and confirm the correct output source is selected. Double-check the volume is turned up and not muted.

  3. Update Software
Ensure your display’s firmware and any relevant apps (like browsers or media players) are up to date. Updates can resolve many audio issues.

  4. Test Different Sources
Try playing audio from a different app or device (such as a USB stick, built-in app, or another laptop) to see if the problem is with the display or the original source.

  5. Restart Devices
Power cycle the display and any connected devices by turning them off, waiting 10 seconds, and turning them back on.

Troubleshooting

  • If you still hear no sound or the audio remains distorted/intermittent after these steps, there may be a hardware issue with the display’s mainboard or audio components. Contact i3CONNECT support for further diagnosis or to arrange a repair.

Do not attempt to open or repair the display yourself.
