i3Sixty3 Camera Detection Troubleshooting

Known issue: On i3Sixty3 devices running firmware version 2.0.0, camera detection may not be passed correctly to externally connected devices when using the I3Sixty 3 Camera.

Symptoms

  • The U1N Camera works on the i3Sixty3 in the Android layer.

  • External sources do not receive the expected camera-detection signal.

  • The issue may occur even though the camera is connected and positioned correctly.

Temporary workaround

Change the U1N Camera detection mode from Auto to either Short edge or Long edge. The correct option depends on the physical position of the camera on the device.

Why this works: The setting determines whether camera detection is evaluated against the portrait or landscape side of the i3Sixty3. Selecting an explicit orientation allows camera detection to be passed to external sources again.

Change the camera detection setting

  1. Open i3Connect settings.

  2. Go to Admin.

  3. Select Android.

  4. Select Go to Android settings.

  5. Select System.

  6. Select U1N Camera Switch.

  7. Change the setting from Auto to Short edge or Long edge.

  8. Test the external device to confirm that the camera is detected.

A video on how to change the mentioned setting can be found below

Select the correct orientation

Setting

Use when

Short edge

The camera is positioned along the device’s short edge.

Long edge

The camera is positioned along the device’s long edge.

Support status

This is a temporary workaround for a known camera-detection issue in firmware version 2.0.0. Keep the explicit orientation selected until a firmware update or support instruction resolves the underlying issue.
