Fixing delayed 4K wireless sharing via AirPlay on the Neo

The Neo runs the AirServer application to facilitate wireless sharing. This application supports up to 4K wireless sharing in default mode.

However, the Neo main chip does not support hardware decoding at 4K while using the AirPlay protocol with Apple Mac products.

In that case, the Neo will switch to software decoding – which is much slower – and will cause a significant lag (10-30s).

How to fix for Mac

We advise you to change the default AirServer setting (accessed via the Neo Settings > Functionality > AirServer settings > ‘Limit Mirroring Resolution to reduce bandwidth’ to ON.

This will limited the sharing resolution for all sharing protocols and devices (so also Windows and Android devices) to 1080p. Unfortunately, Neo hardware does not support 4K AirPlay sharing without a delay.
