Connecting via HDMI on Riva R2 - Laptop to Display

Summary of video

  • HDMI cable: Plug the HDMI cable into the Riva R2 / D2 (for example into HDMI 1) and into your laptop or computer

  • Touch Out USB: Next, plug in a USB cable into the Riva R2 / D2 into the matching Touch Out (e.g. Touch Out 1) and also into your laptop or computer. This allows for touch control (Touchback) of your laptop from the Riva R2 / D2.

  • Change Source: To change sources to this HDMI source, press the center button on the front of the display, under the CTOUCH logo, and then press the dropdown at the top of the Quick Menu. Select the matching HDMI input (e.g. in this example HDMI 1)

Limitations of HDMI

  • HDMI has the main benefit of being perfect for long distance video transmission. However, it has a downside when working with a touchscreen: no touchback (touch control of your laptop) is transmitted over HDMI. Many user’s will not know this and this will feel like a broken experience unless they are told about this.

Troubleshoot

  • If you do not see your source, it may have been renamed by your IT / Facilities team.
