System app updates as one bundle

i3OTA Client now installs i3CONNECT Studio system apps as a single, compatible bundle, replacing separate per-app updates through i3STORE. Apps that depend on each other, such as the Setup Wizard, Cortex client and System Service, are updated together, so a display never ends up with a mismatched set. The client checks the update server for the available bundle and only downloads the apps that have changed. Downloads are checked for integrity, resume after a network interruption, and do not start without enough storage.

Self-update

i3OTA Client can now update itself as part of a bundle. After it has installed its own new version, it picks up the update where it left off, so the rest of the bundle is still installed.

Secure update information

Every bundle manifest is digitally signed. i3OTA Client verifies the signature before acting on it and rejects anything that does not match. The verification key is retrieved from the update server, stored on the device and renewed automatically when it changes, so verification also works offline.

Update progress and errors

During a bundle update, i3OTA Client reports download and install progress, completion and failures, including a reason for any failure. The Setup Wizard and i3SETTINGS use this to show users what is happening.

Flexible update moments

Updates can start in three ways: an automatic background check at a configurable interval, a push from Cortex, or a manual "Check for updates" in i3SETTINGS. Automatic updates respect Do Not Disturb periods. Settings can be configured per device.
